Nissan registers dramatic increase in Syria 2007 sale figures

Nissan sales in Syria have jumped by a whopping 60 per cent in 2007 compared with the previous year, figures released jointly by Rakha Co., Nissan’s exclusive agent in Syria and the Dubai-based Nissan Middle East have revealed.

Rakha Co., which began its operations by early 2004, said it sold 1,072 units in 2007. “Our efforts in making Nissan a strong brand in the Syrian market have yielded great results. We are planning to take our efforts to the next step in 2008, and we are certain Nissan cars will become an inseparable part of the lives of so many Syrians in various fields and sectors”, said Omar Al Shallah, Managing Director, Rakha Co.

The Nissan line-up in Syria includes Teana, Tiida, Sunny, X-Trail, Murano, Pickup, Civilian and Urvan. The most popular models have been Sunny, Tiida and Murano.

“Nissan vehicles have proved to be quite suitable assets for individuals and businesses in Syria for their quality, durability and reliability. We all know the importance attached to these values in the Syrian market”, said Richard Zreik, Marketing Manager, Nissan Middle East.

Rakha Co. recently held its annual meeting in Damascus and extended thanks to its employees for their valuable contributions to the company as well as to strengthening Nissan brand in the Syrian market.

It also implemented the Employee Recognition Award Program (ERAP), intended to recognize the contribution of loyal employees to the advancement of Rakha Co. and Nissan. Awards were given in four categories: Best Division, Best Department, Best Employee (in every division) and Best salesman.

“We have rewarded our employees for their great efforts in 2007. All the 2007 targets have been achieved with excellent results, and we are certain we will be able to realize our 2008 strategic goals in the same way”, underlined Al Shallah.

Car sales in Syria are reported to be at their highest in decades thanks to the liberalization of the economy. Old cars of the 1950’s, 1960s and 1970s, are ceding place to new vehicles, with Nissan being noticeably seen on the streets, as well as in famous Syria drama serials. Nissan will also make its presence felt at the forthcoming Syria International Motorshow, to be held from July 1 to 7, 2008.
